Who we are

Our website address is: https://www.mynamecue.com.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Application Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 15, 2026

Last Updated: August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how namecue LLC (“namecue,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the namecue mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

namecue is designed to help people remember names, families, and associations within opt-in groups and directories. We try to collect only the information needed to provide that service, and to distinguish between information you choose to share with a group and information that is private to you.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, login credentials or authentication identifiers, profile photo, and other information needed to create, secure, and manage your account.

1.2 Profile and Directory Information

You may choose to create a profile and join one or more groups or organization directories. Depending on the features you use and the settings for a directory, this may include your name, profile photo, family information, spouse or partner information, children’s names, schools, graduation years, group affiliations, roles, and other information you choose to provide.

1.3 Private Notes and Manual Entries

namecue may allow you to create private notes or manually add people to your personal directory. Private notes and manual entries are intended to be visible only to you unless you choose to share them or unless a feature clearly states otherwise. Private notes may include reminders such as how you know someone, family context, visual cues, tags, or other personal memory aids.

1.4 Photos and Images

You may upload profile photos or other images. If you upload a photo of another person, you are responsible for having the right or permission to do so. Do not upload photos of children or other individuals unless you have appropriate authority or consent.

1.5 Invite Codes, Access Requests, and Group Administration

If you join or create a group or organization directory, we may collect invite codes, access requests, approval status, organizer roles, group membership information, and related administrative records.

1.6 Communications and Support

If you contact us, we may collect your contact information and the content of your message so we can respond and provide support.

1.7 Device, Log, and Usage Information

We may collect information about your device and use of the Service, such as device type, operating system, app version, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, crash reports, diagnostic data, timestamps, pages or screens viewed, and interactions with features. We use this information to operate, secure, debug, and improve the Service.

1.8 Payment Information

If namecue offers paid features, subscriptions, or organization plans, payment processing may be handled by Apple, Google, Stripe, or another payment provider. We generally do not receive full payment card numbers. We may receive transaction identifiers, subscription status, billing contact details, and related information needed to manage your purchase.

1.9 Facial Assist and Biometric Information

namecue’s current MVP is intended to focus on opt-in directories, private notes, manual additions, and profile matching/merge workflows. If namecue later offers facial assist or facial matching, we will provide a separate, clear consent flow before enabling it. Facial assist will not be enabled merely because a user uploads a profile photo or joins a directory.

If facial assist is introduced, our intended privacy approach is: explicit opt-in, limited matching only within directories where both access and consent exist, no matching against the general public, and deletion controls. If the feature creates or uses face geometry, face templates, embeddings, or similar biometric information, we will handle that information as sensitive information and provide additional disclosures and consents as required by applicable law.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • create and manage user accounts;
  • allow users to create profiles and join, create, search, and manage directories;
  • display shared profile information to authorized members of a directory;
  • store and retrieve private notes and manual entries for the user who created them;
  • process invite codes, access requests, approvals, and group administration;
  • provide customer support and respond to inquiries;
  • send service-related notices, security alerts, account messages, and updates;
  • debug, protect, and improve the Service;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and misuse;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements;
  • provide paid features, if applicable.

3. Shared Information, Private Information, and Visibility

namecue is built around different visibility levels. You should understand what other users may see before entering information.

4. How We Disclose Information

We may disclose information in the following ways:

  • With other authorized directory members, according to your settings and the directory rules.

  • With your consent or at your direction.

We do not sell your private notes. We do not use private notes for third-party advertising. If we ever introduce advertising or data sharing that would require additional notice or consent, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any required controls.

5. Children and Family Information

namecue may be used by parents, guardians, organizations, teams, schools, or activity groups to remember names and family associations. Because this may involve information about children, users must be careful and authorized when uploading or entering information about a child.

Unless we expressly state otherwise and implement appropriate parental consent mechanisms, namecue is not intended for use by children under 14, and children under 14 may not create their own accounts. If you believe a child under 14 has created an account or provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us at privacy@mynamecue.com.

If a school, youth organization, or other enterprise uses namecue, additional agreements or consent procedures may apply. The organization is responsible for ensuring it has appropriate authority to provide or approve directory information about its members, students, families, or participants.

6. Your Choices and Controls

  • Profile controls: You may edit or remove information from your profile, subject to the available app features and directory rules.
  • Directory participation: You may leave a directory or request removal from a directory where available.
  • Private notes: You may edit or delete private notes you created.
  • Manual entries: You may edit or delete manual entries you created.
  • Communications: You may opt out of non-essential marketing communications, but we may still send service, security, and account notices.
  • Account deletion: If the app supports account creation, you may request or initiate deletion of your account through the app or by contacting us at privacy@mynamecue.com. Some information may be retained if required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or legitimate business purposes.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, operate directories, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent abuse, and maintain backups. We may retain de-identified or aggregated information that does not reasonably identify you.

If facial assist or biometric processing is ever enabled, we will provide a specific retention schedule and deletion process for any biometric identifiers or biometric information, as required by applicable law.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using appropriate judgment when sharing personal information.

9. State, National, and International Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or opt-out of certain uses or disclosures of personal information. To exercise privacy rights, contact us at [privacy@mynamecue.com]. We may need to verify your identity before responding.

California and other U.S. state privacy laws may require notices about categories of information collected, purposes of use, categories of disclosures, and opt-out rights for certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising. namecue should publish any state-specific notices that apply based on its final business model, size, data practices, and jurisdictions of operation.

If you are located outside the United States, additional data protection laws may apply. Do not launch internationally without reviewing local legal requirements, including lawful basis, cross-border transfer, user rights, and children’s data requirements.

10. Third-Party Services

The Service may use third-party services for hosting, analytics, authentication, crash reporting, payments, customer support, notifications, or other functions. These providers may process information on our behalf or according to their own terms. We will identify key providers in this policy or in app disclosures where required.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service, by email, or as otherwise required by law. The updated policy will be effective when posted unless a later effective date is stated.
